Launch of Via East Midlands Ltd

Via is a new company, set up in partnership between Nottinghamshire County Council and Cornwall Council. It will provide highways and fleet management services in Nottinghamshire.

The new organisation will become fully operational from July 2016. The company will be supported by both the County Council and CORSERV, a company owned by Cornwall Council. It will be based in existing Nottinghamshire County Council highways buildings.

The new arrangement arises from reducing budgets and the need for work to be managed differently in order to meet budget challenges. The contract is for 10 years and can be extended for 5 years. Via will be wholly owned by the public sector and will also be able to trade commercially to gain work of up to 20% of its turnover.

690 staff will transfer to Via from the council for the 1 July start date.

Via will carry out a range of highways and fleet management services on behalf of the council. However if you have any queries or want to report a problem, you should continue to use our website and Customer Service centre on telephone 0300 500 80 80.

The County Council will retain some strategic highways function. These include:

Highways Development Control

Flood Risk Management

Civil Parking Enforcement

Rights of Way

Transport Planning
